Ready to hold your own with Gen Alpha this holiday season? Sometimes it feels like your younger relatives are speaking a different language. We’ve created a quick slang cheat sheet so you don't lose 'aura points' at the dinner table; or worse, get called 'unc.' Study up!

Term: Aura

Translation: Your "vibe" or coolness level.

How to use it: 👇Losing aura points for tripping; 👆 gaining aura points for a great outfit.

Term: Unc

Translation: Short for uncle; refers to someone being "old."

How to use it: If you remember life before TikTok, you might be an unc.

Term: Mid

Translation: Average, mediocre, or unimpressive.

How to use it: "The turkey was okay, but the dessert was kind of mid."

Term: Skibidi

Translation: Context-dependent; can mean cool, bad, or dumb.

How to use it: "That’s so skibidi" (can be a compliment or an insult).

Term: Ohio

Translation: Weird, cringey, or "off."

How to use it: "Why is he acting so Ohio right now?"

Term: Looksmaxxing

Translation: Maximizing your physical attractiveness.

How to use it: It’s what you spent 2025 doing to look your best. 

Term: Mog/Mogging

Translation: Being significantly more attractive than those around you.

How to use it: "You're totally mogging the rest of the family in that new merch."

Term: Chopped

Translation: Looking rough, messy, or unattractive.

How to use it: “You have food on your face, you look chopped.”

Term: 67

Translation: An ambiguous term used as a filler or joke without any real meaning.

How to use it: Usually accompanied by moving your hands up and down. (Don't ask why).
