5 BRANDS WINNING ON Threads

Threads is the hottest new app taking the world by storm, with 150 million downloads within its first week. A lot of brands were quick to dive into Threads, betting that, with Meta’s backing and Instagram integration, it would grow quickly. We’re bullish that Threads will become a major platform.

Here’s a roundup of five brands with a strong Threads game! Some are Movers+Shakers clients, and others are brands we admire from afar.

Tinder

Everyone's favorite dating app is keeping things cheeky and fun on the app. They are keeping their Threads simple to engage their audience by asking questions like “For research purposes: which zodiac sign is an instant green flag ✅ & which is an instant red flag🚩?” which garnered over 275 replies. They’re also replying to other big brands on Threads like Crumble Cookies and Spotify to build engagement with their audiences.

Chime

Like many other brands on the app, Chime is keeping things fun. The online banking company is using the platform to connect with its audience by asking questions surrounding weekend budgets, speculating about how people can afford Eras tickets, and wondering what we call the action of making a Thread (Twitter is Tweeting, are we Threading?!). They’ve remained quite active on the platform and are working hard to build an engaged audience.

Spotify

With over 1 million followers, Spotify is making a huge splash on Threads. Spotify is keeping their page similar to how they run their Instagram and Twitter feeds and using the platform to share playlists, ask questions like “Give us the one-liner lyric that makes you feel the most ✨seen✨,” and share who is topping the charts each weekend. Spotify is posting 2-3 times per day and replying to their followers Threads consistently.

Starbucks

Starbucks is doing things a little differently than the above brands and is actually using the app to share its products and inspire people to purchase. They are keeping up with trends, like Girl Dinner (a TikTok trend where girls share their unhinged solo meals) and writing captions like “It’s always “I love you” and never “I got your Grande Cold Brew with Cold Foam and two pumps of vanilla and a cake pop even though you didn’t ask for it."Starbucks is re-Threading posts of customers sharing information about their drinks and sharing pictures from Instagram of popular beverages.

e.l.f. Cosmetics

Keeping their vibe trendy and on brand, e.l.f. is staying quite active on the app and Threading questions like “Morning Besties!!! ❤️ We have our holy grails, but what are YOUR must-have e.l.f. products?” The brand is also putting out positive vibes with posts like “Good morning besties! We know Mondays are hard, but you look incredible and are doing an amazing job 🫶” and sharing tips and must-try products like their Liquid Poreless Putty Primer.

Takeaways

If you're looking to launch your brand on Threads, keep it fun, keep it light, and keep it engaging! When you create your account many of your followers will instantly follow you due to the integration with Instagram, so you don't have to worry about starting from scratch. If you don't know where to start, we recommend doing what the hottest brands are doing, such as replying to a Thread that says:

First name:

Last name:
